Welcome. We are pleased that you are
interested in our Used Book Shops.
Looking to buy or donate rare books?
The Friends of Ferguson Library Used Book Shops encourages you to donate books that may have collectible value. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
Our collectibles pricing system ensures that The Ferguson Library obtains maximum value for these donations, and that collectors can easily find titles they are seeking.
How can I help?
The Friends would love to train you to identify,
research and price collectible books. To volunteer, or
to discuss a donation, contact the Friends at 203-351-8278.
How does the pricing system work?
Books with possible collectible value are researched and categorized as follows:
1.
Moderately valued books are available for sale in the Friends of Ferguson Library Used Book Shops.
2.
Highly valuable books are consigned to professional book dealers and may be sold at auction or online. However, they are available to customers who make an appointment to view them.
About our prices: We try to verify edition, condition and other pricing information about each book, then set our prices at roughly 20-35% the average retail price. Since we have a responsibility to the public and feel we have priced reasonably, our prices are set and not subject to negotiation. Friends members receive a 10% discount off the purchase price plus 10% off their Starbucks purchases at the Main Library.
About the Friends of Ferguson Library: We are a volunteer organization. 100% of our materials are donated and all proceeds go to support the programs and activities of the Friends and the Ferguson Library, Stamford, CT’s public library system. To help us to continue to improve the shops and to serve our community:
- We invite you to Join the Friends.
- We thank you for your
continued donations of books and
music.
- If you are a dealer,
collector or just hopelessly addicted to books (vice or a virtue?)
we invite you to register
for our email alerts so we can notify you about special shipments
that might interest you.
