Dear Friends:

Though we'd prefer that summer would last forever, many of you have probably already started to get ready for the start of the school year, in earnest. August's featured selections include many books and skill builders to help boost your child's readiness for the first day and beyond. You'll find math practice, vocabulary, phonics, learning to read, teaching aids, textbooks and back-to-school themed merchandise for sale now at our Main Shop--coming soon to our Harry Bennett Shop. Not only will you help your children to be well-prepared, your purchases support our Library, and are free of sales tax, every day.

Summer reading to do? Don't despair! Customers report their children are still working through summer reading lists. Both locations of our shop are well-stocked with titles on the Stamford schools' reading lists, all grade levels, including Advanced Placement classes. Most of these books are priced at between $1 and $5, which means they won't take a big bite out of your budget.

Join the Friends. If you've been sitting on the fence about whether or not to join the Friends of The Ferguson Library, now is a great time to take out that membership. New memberships taken out (or current memberships renewed) between now and the end of December 2011 are good through December, 2012. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by federal law; and Friends members receive a 10% discount on every purchase, every day, at both locations of our shop, and at the Starbucks in our Main Library. Memberships cost as little as $25 per year. It is convenient to join online, in our shop, or by mail. Can you say "bargain"?
Find us on Facebook. We regularly post what's new to the shop on our Facebook page. For example, we recently announced the arrival of Back to School, and War and Military History books, at Main Shop. Follow our Facebook page to learn what's new in August.
See you in the shop!
