Dear Friends:
This month, the book shop is featuring titles from the schools' reading lists, children's classics, award winners, popular series, and staff favorites for beginning readers through teens. Whether you are looking for Three Cups of Tea, or Stephanie Meyer's Eclipse, Dr. Seuss or Dora, our volunteers are on the alert for great reading material, and move it quickly into our shop. Best of all, our low prices mean that you can buy many of the titles your children want to read. Displays are refreshed daily, so we encouage you to stop in often!
Holiday Hours. As we move into the upcoming holiday weekend, we want to remind you that we're open on Saturday, July 3, during library hours, but closed on July 4 & 5 in observance of Independence Day.
New Inventory Management and Checkout System. During the next month, our shop at the Main Library will begin using a computerized inventory management and checkout system. Some of the changes you'll see are barcoded price stickers on every book, and price scanning at checkout. We're very excited about the applications of this technology. Checkout will be faster. It will tell us the most popular categories--helping us to better cater to your needs. It will help us to become more efficient about pricing books for the shop. And, it will help us to 'flag' specific books that the Library wants for its collection, to support reading groups and other Library programs and activities.
Donations. We couldn't run our shop without donated books. Please help us spread the word in your neighborhoods, churches and other social networks. Donation guidelines are available on our web site, or you can phone us in the book shop workroom for more information: 203-351-8278.
Magazine Subscriptions. Did you know that you can use those 'leftover' miles to purchase magazine subscriptions for the book shop before the miles expire? A few of our most popular magazines are The Economist, The New Yorker, O (the Oprah magazine), Martha Stewart Living, and People. Simply designate the mailing address for magazines as Friends of The Ferguson Library Used Book Shop, One Public Library Plaza, Stamford, CT 06904.
Book Shop is on Facebook! We're getting some great feedback from customers who regularly visit our Facebook page. We're using Facebook to post information about new and special items as they arrive in our shop. If you've not already done so, we encourage you to become a fan of the Friends Book Shop at the Ferguson Library on Facebook to stay abreast of what's happening.
